Ricky Ramón, MFA, MA, EDM

Faculty Bio

     Ricky Ramón has over 20 years of teaching experience at the middle school, high school, and collegiate levels. Currently, he teaches Kinesthetic Character Development & Storytelling, Intro to Acting, Intro to Theatre, Theatre History I & II, Play Analysis, and coordinates the Honors Program in the Department of Theatre Arts at Howard University in Washington, D.C. 

     

     Ricky has directed and stage-managed over 60 plays and musicals including at Atlantic Theater Company (NYC), Rep Stage Theatre, Theater Alliance, Imagination Stage, Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, Teatro Vivo, and Howard University.  He travels extensively across the country educating students and teachers in college and career readiness, theatre performance, curriculum development, anti-racism and social equity, and arts integration. He serves as a judge for the Helen Hayes Awards for professional theatre in Washington D.C.  

     

      Ricky earned a Master of Education in Arts in Education from Harvard University, a Master of Fine Arts in Acting and Directing from Texas Tech University, and a Master of Arts in Performance Studies from New York University-Tisch School of the Arts.  He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Theatre from the University of Notre Dame.  Ricky Ramón is originally from Pearsall, Texas.
